THESE ARE A FEW OF OUR FAVORITE THINGS
We always get so many requests for what we use and what we recommend we decided to put everything in one place! Most of these things can be purchased from other sites as well.
WHAT WE FEED OUR PUPPIES
We feed all of our puppies Hill's Science Diet for the first year. Then we move to an adult version. We trust Hill's Science Diet because:
They have been around for decades
They follow WSAVA guidelines
They have a team of nutritionists and vets on staff
They perform feeding trials
Their foods aren't linked to DCM
They are backed by breeders and vets across the world
They are affordable and have so many different varieties
WHAT WE FEED OUR ADULTS
This is what we transition to after 1 year of age. They also have a lamb version that our dogs like as well.
HOW WE PUZZLE
Snuffle mats are a great rainy day activity. They encourage scent work and are a fun puzzle for your dog while creating some entertainment for you as well! Instead of feeding in their bowl we will hide all their kibbles throughout the mat making mealtime way more fun
MORE PLAY
Toys with stuffing do not bode well in this house. To avoid having to clean up endless piles of white fluff we stick to these. They still have the squeak and our dogs seem to love the crinkle sound also.
HOW WE PLAY
Our dogs love this thing. They drag it all over the place and it has been used to for tug of war and independent play. So far it has been indestructible which is always a plus.
HOW WE TRAIN
Training is important for dogs of all ages. We keep these around at all times for a quick training session. They are tiny so you can use quite a few at a time. They are super soft and have a strong scent too. Our dogs see the bag and start going through their line of tricks!
WHAT WE CHEW
Our dogs love bully sticks. They are a great task to give them on a rainy day or whenever you need to keep them busy for awhile. What we love is that they are completely natural and unlike rawhides they are 100% digestable and we don't see upset stomachs from even our more sensitive pups.
MORE CHEWING
These things are a staple around here. We probably have 5 or 6 and they last months even being shared by all of our dogs. They are a safe chew that you can leave in their crate with them or just have hanging out in their toy box. They can't break chunks off so no risk of choking here.
HOW WE DRY
I am a dog LOVER. They live with us, they sleep with us, they drive with us whenever possible. The one thing that I could do without is all the hair. This is the ticket. If you don't want to head to the grooming salon monthly this will do the job right at home. Forced air drying is the best way to blow out all the dead coat and dander which cuts down on allergens in your home and shedding. We do all our dogs regularly and it is a life saver. This is like a "mini" version of what professional groomers use and for these breeds its perfect.
HOW WE CLEAN
This is the best stuff. As a former owner of a grooming salon I have tried a lot of things. Once we found this we never looked back. Its sulfate free so it doesn't leave residue. It really deep cleans so their coats are nice and soft. The best part is the subtle clean smell it leaves behind. We use this on all our puppies before they go home so if you are missing that "new puppy smell" this is it!
WHERE WE SLEEP
We kennel train all of our puppies at night for the first year at least. This gives them a safe place to go when we are gone and most importantly will keep them from developing separation anxiety in the future. I like this one because it comes with a divider so you can start small puppies in half the space and remove it later when your dog grows up.
